The Lahore Biennale 03 Opening October 5 2024
NewsThe Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF) announces that the opening of the third edition of the Lahore Biennale (LB03) has been set for Saturday, October 5th, 2024.
Organised around the theme of ecologies and sustainable futures, the Biennale will present site-specific work that draws attention to issues caused by environmental degradation, but that also highlights vernacular and indigenous heritage as potent resources for imagining future sustainability. By actively implementing forms of solidarity between artists, thinkers, researchers, and the broader community, LB03 puts the spotlight on collaborative efforts to address challenges shared across Asia and the Global South, facilitate the exchange of knowledge concerning historical connections, and propose collective pathways for navigating the future together.

ایل بی ۰۳ ماحولیات اور مستحکم مستقبل کے موضوعات پر مبنی ہے- اس میں ماحولیاتی تبدیلی سے پیدا ہونے والے مسائل پر توجہ دِی جائے گی۔ اس کے ساتھ ساتھ مقامی ورثت کا مستقبل کی پائیداری کے لیےایک موثر وسیلہ ہونے پر روشنی ڈالی جاۓ گی۔
فنکاروں، مفکرین، محققین اور عوام کے درمیان یکجہتی کی مختلف شکلوں کو دیدہ و دانستہ نافذ کرتے ہوئے، ایل بی ۰۳ ایشیا اور گلوبل ساؤتھ کی مشترکہ مشکلات کا حل کرنے کی کوششوں پر روشنی ڈالتا ہے، تاریخی رابطوں سے متعلق علم کے تبادلے میں سہولت کو فروغ دیتا ہے، اورمستقبل کی طرف بڑھنے کے لیے باہمی تعاون کے طریقوں کا تقاضا کرتا ہے۔
John Tain, curator LB03, served as Head of Research at Asia Art Archive from 2017-2023, where his projects include AAA’s co-curated contribution to documenta fifteen, the Art Schools of Asia seminar and symposium (2021-22); and MAHASSA (Modern Art Histories in and across Africa, and South and Southeast Asia), co-organized with the Dhaka Art Summit and Cornell University’s Institute for Comparative Modernities (Hong Kong and Dhaka, 2019-20). Since 2021, he has served as an advisor to Asia Forum. He previously served as a curator for modern and contemporary collections at the Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles).
